The current Mount Zion excavations are being conducted under the academic wing and sponsorship of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with licenses provided courtesy of the Israel Antiquities Authority, and the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority. Additional sponsors of the excavations include The Foundation for Biblical Archaeology, the Stella and Charles Guttman Foundation, and private individuals. We are also grateful to the East Jerusalem Development Company and the Jerusalem Municipality for logistical help, and to local inhabitants. The excavations from the 1970s are being published with a grant provided by the Shelby White - Leon Levy Program for 2005-2006.
